The Ukiah Unified School District’s board of trustees will vote on a new contract today with its teachers after the Ukiah Teachers Association voted overwhelmingly in favor of it. Negotiations between the UUSD and the teachers stalled and required help from a mediator this month, but after just one meeting, the impasse was broken and a tentative agreement reached. UTA President Leslie Barkley says that the teachers are happy and the negotiating team is happy. Both sides agreed on a 4-percent raise, plus terms of payment for furlough days, plus flexibility in professional development days. The UUSD’s board of trustees meets at 4 p.m. They will also be considering the UUSD’s budget for the 2014–15 school year.
