The city of Ukiah has identified vacant property in the Brush Street Triangle as the potential site of its new well, No. 9. The spot selected is in the northwest corner of the vacant property between the Orchard Avenue Bridge and Orr Street. The site is closer to the city’s main waterline on Brush Street, so less piping would be needed to connect the well. The property is owned by the Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation, and the city has been working on an agreement with them to allow the city to drill a test well on the site. If the tests are successful, the city will build Well No. 9 there. In exchange for the property, he said, RCHDC will receive water connections equal to the fair market value of the land.
