A Mendocino County Superior Court judge is reviewing a charge that a Ukiah surgeon tried to sell or give away narcotics. Dr. Brian M. Cable faces six felony counts of prescription fraud and a seventh charge that he possessed a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, furnish or sell it. Cable’s lawyers told the judge his actions stemmed from his addiction, not from an intent to give or sell the drugs to others. Back in July, Ukiah Valley Medical Center personnel tipped off police about the possible fraud. After doing a search of his home and office, Ukiah police detectives arrested Cable.
