A man is lucky to be alive after falling nearly 40-feet in his vehicle over the weekend. The driver was headed east on Vichy Springs Road in his Ford Explorer when he went straight, rather than taking a right-hand curve in the road. He drove through a fence Saturday and careened down a 40-foot drop, hit several tree branches on the way down and landing half submerged in Vichy Springs Creek. the combined Ukiah Valley Fire District and city of Ukiah Fire Department responded to the incident. The man was extricated from his vehicle, then removed from the scene using a Stokes basket and was taken by ambulance to Ukiah Valley Medical Center with what appeared to be minor injuries.
