Mendocino County has set a new record…but it’s not one the county wants. 2014 is the driest year on record with no relief in sight. The valley usually gets about 37 inches of rain a year. 0.18 inches is all Ukiah’s gotten so far this year. It’s hard to find anything that the drought hasn’t dried up around the county. National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Tonkin told the Ukiah Daily Journal that he believes the area will see a cooler than normal second half of winter, with normal precipitation and snow, but nowhere near enough to catch up in most places.
