Fort Bragg police arrested a man in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries that began in early December. The arrest followed a report of a suspicious male dressed in camouflage looking into vehicles on South Street. Officers checked the area and found and arrested Cheshire Maiava, 27, of Fort Bragg, on Jan. 1 at about 6:45 a.m. Maiava was in possession of burglary tools, pepper spray, a controlled substance and a police scanner. He was also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, a controlled substance, and burglary tools. Maiava was booked at the Mendocino County Adult Detention Facility in Ukiah.
