The answer was “no” to a Dollar Tree store in Fort Bragg. The city’s Planning Commission voted to deny a use permit to convert the old social services building on South Franklin Street to a Dollar Tree store. Many from the community attended the meeting to voice their opinion: those who favored a new store with affordable merchandise for low-income residents. And those who opposed the store’s low wages, and the traffic and noise impacts. The property owner said he was surprised by the vote and expressed frustration that if they don’t want retail in his location, they should rezone it.
