Area Shelters Open for Homeless

The Lake Resource cen­ter opened an emer­gency warm­ing cen­ter for the home­less last night after a vote by the Lake County Board of Super­vi­sors to pro­vide the cen­ter with the nec­es­sary resources. The cen­ter was open for home­less peo­ple needed shel­ter from the freez­ing tem­per­a­tures. The tem­po­rary shel­ter will open every night start­ing at 7 p.m. as long as night tem­per­a­tures remain below 45 degrees. The Lake Fam­ily Resource Cen­ter Office in Clear­lake located at 15312 Lakeshore Dr.

The Extreme Weather Shel­ter is open to home­less indi­vid­u­als for check-in any time of the day until 8 p.m. in Fort Bragg. Those there in
need of overnight shel­ter can check in at the Hos­pi­tal­ity House. There will be a van doing out­reach on the streets of Fort Bragg and Men­do­cino too. The Extreme Weather Shel­ter was cre­ated by Love in Action and is deliv­ered by Hos­pi­tal­ity House in part­ner­ship with local faith com­mu­ni­ties. They accept dona­tions of food, cloth­ing, toi­letries or tow­els at Hos­pi­tal­ity House in Fort Bragg.
