Board to Discuss Marijuana Cultivation

The Board of Supervisors will hold its regular morning meeting today along with a special evening session in order to discuss new guidelines for medical marijuana cultivation. During the session, the board will hold a public hearing on the proposed marijuana cultivation ordinance, which the Lake County Planning Commission recommended to it last month. If approved, the ordinance would prohibit outdoor cultivation within community growth boundaries, limit indoor growing and indoor lighting, set a cap on plants on parcels larger than one acre located outside of community growth boundaries, and prohibit outdoor cultivation within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, substance rehabilitation facilities, child care facilities, nursery schools, and churches.
